Get ready for your new bus network

In 2025, Brisbane will experience the largest uplift to our bus network in over a decade.

From Monday 30 June, we’ll be introducing Brisbane's New Bus Network alongside a new Brisbane Metro route — M1 from Eight Mile Plains to Roma Street.

The new network and metro services will improve reliability and increase capacity to get you where you need to go, sooner and safer.

On this page, you can discover if there are any changes to your bus route and use the interactive network map to find out what this means for you.

Key network changes

Read our summary below of key changes to the bus network, then find out if there are changes to your route.

As our city grows and evolves, we need to change the way we use our buses.

Rather than all journeys being single-seat journeys, where one bus gets you to your destination, we’re introducing two-seat journeys on some routes. For these routes, your journey may involve transferring from one bus to another bus or metro service with a simple same-platform or nearby transfer.

This means we can get you where you need to go, while reducing congestion on our popular busways and urban roads.

While an introduced transfer might feel like a big change, we’re making it as easy as possible with same-platform or nearby transfers.

We’re introducing 6 new routes to improve connections across our network, increasing peak period services and better connecting people to local places of interest.

We’re also renumbering some routes to make it easier to catch a bus.

With new services and some changed routes, you may need to take a different service from the one you use now. Alternatively, you may get picked up or dropped off at a different bus stop.

These changes have been made to improve overall reliability and efficiency of our bus network.

We’re here to help you navigate these changes with our team on the ground to support at busway stations and key stops. There will also be bus stop signage and notifications across Translink’s channels.

The CBD network has been simplified to provide customers with more travel options and better service reliability. This means changes to where some buses enter, travel and stop within the inner city.

The new network aims to improve connections, service newly developed areas and create more consistent stopping patterns, helping customers better navigate the city.

Our high-frequency services have been redistributed between the 4 inner busway stations, contributing to a reduction of buses over Victoria Bridge by up to 30%. This will free up Cultural Centre station while maintaining convenient transfer opportunities between high-frequency services at all inner busway stations.

    Frequently asked questions

In Brisbane, buses do the heavy lifting, carrying two-thirds of public transport customers. As our city continues to grow, we’re evolving our network and investing in smart solutions to keep Brisbane moving.

The new network, will evolve the way we move as a city. We’re streamlining services and introducing Brisbane Metro to improve reliability and increase capacity to get you where you need to go at the times you want to travel.

The new network will be introduced on Monday 30 June.

As part of our plan to evolve the bus network for our growing population, Council in partnership with Translink completed a detailed review of the bus network to develop Brisbane’s New Bus Network — a network that is purpose-built for our city.

You shared your feedback on the proposed network changes as part of city-wide community consultation in 2022. We received over 5,000 pieces of feedback, and have refined the bus network to deliver you more services, more often.

Yes, the 50 cent flat rate will apply across all zones and modes on the Translink network across Queensland. If you transfer between services within 2 hours, the system will automatically combine your trips into a single fare.

During the week, metro services will operate at a 5 minute frequency from approximately 6am-6pm. Before 6am and after 6pm, services will operate every 10-15 minutes.

On weekends, services will operate at 10-15 minute frequency and will have 24-hour service coverage starting from Friday evening through to Sunday evening.
